In case you don’t already know it, the email addresses that are “saved” in your Mail email account are really saved in your Address Book. The two applications talk to each other. If someone sends you an email that contains the name, address, email, etc. of someone not currently in your records, you can add them to your Address Book without ever opening it (Address Book).
Just hold the pointer over the person’s information in the message, press the mouse button, and when the pop-up menu opens, choose “Add To Address Book” If you already have a card on the individual you can add to that card. If you don’t you can create a new card.
You can do the same thing with your iCal. If someone sends you information about an event, you can hold the pointer over the date, press the mouse button, and get a pop-up menu that will allow you to create a new event in your iCal calendar. Again, you don’t even have to open iCal. It is opened for you automatically.
You can check this out by sending yourself a message and playing around with it.
